Halifax, N.S. – For the second straight year and the third time in four years, the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Year hails from the Western Hockey League.
Ian Scott of the Prince Albert Raiders was named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Year on Saturday morning. In 49 appearances this season, the 20-year-old product of Calgary, Alta., went 38-8-1-2 with a 1.83 goals-against average (GAA), .932 save percentage (SV%) and eight shutouts to help lead the Raiders to the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as WHL Regular Season champions.
Selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fourth round (110th overall) of the 2017 NHL Draft, Scott has appeared in 175 career WHL regular season contests, going 87-64-9-5 with a 2.90 GAA, .905 SV% and 11 shutouts to his credit.
During the 2019 WHL Playoffs, Scott went 16-7 with a 1.96 GAA, .925 SV% and five shutouts as the Raiders hoisted the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL Champions. The 6-foot-3, 183-pound puck stopper was named MVP of the WHL Playoffs for his efforts. Earlier this season, he represented Canada at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship in Vancouver and Victoria.
Scott was originally a first-round selection (ninth overall) of the Raiders at the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.
