Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that forward Alex Forsberg of the Victoria Royals is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending September 27 after recording seven points in two games including two goals and five assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-3.


Forsberg helped the Royals begin the WHL’s 50th season with a pair of victories over the Portland Winterhawks earning first star honours in both contests.  On Friday night he picked up three assists as part of a 4-1 victory, then scored two goals with two assists on Saturday in the Royals’ 6-5 triumph. 


Forsberg, a 20-year-old from Waldheim, SK, is playing in his fourth full WHL season and second campaign with the Royals and has amassed 152 points in 199 career WHL regular season games.


Also considered for the award this week was San Jose Sharks prospect Jeremy Roy of the QMJHL’s Sherbrooke Phoenix and 2016 NHL Draft prospect Matthew Tkachuk of the OHL’s London Knights both with two goals and four assists for six points in two games.
