OIL KINGS HOST ROCKETS LIVE ON SHAW – Brett Pollock and the Edmonton Oil Kings host Tyson Baillie and the Kelowna Rockets in a battle between the past two WHL Champions on Friday night, live on SHAW and Shaw HD channel 304 at (7:00pm MT/6:00pm PT).
The Edmonton Oil Kings are looking for their first win of the season after dropping their first two contests to the Red Deer Rebels during opening week. Brett Pollock has notched two points (1g-1a) for the Oil Kings who have struggled out of the gate with only three goals scored in two games. Last season, the Oil Kings narrowly qualified for the 2015 WHL Playoffs as the Eastern Conference’s second Wildcard before losing to the Brandon Wheat Kings in the opening round. The 2014 WHL and Memorial Cup Champions posted a record of 2-3-0-0 in the 2015 Pre-Season with forward Lane Bauer and defenceman Anatolii Elizarov tying for first in Club scoring with three points each.
Tyson Baillie and the defending WHL Champion Kelowna Rockets started off their 2015-16 campaign with three games in three nights last week. The Rockets started strong with a pair of victories over B.C. Division rival, the Kamloops Blazers before dropping their third game to the Vancouver Giants. Forward Tyson Baillie enters the weekend tied for first amongst all WHL players in goals with four and tied for first in points with seven. Kelowna also leads all WHL Clubs in goal scoring with 13 as they look to continue their hot start. The Rockets posted a record of 3-2-0-0 in the 2015 Pre-Season with forwards Dillon Dube and Kole Lind finishing tied for first in scoring with six points apiece.
Last season, the Rockets and Oil Kings earned a split in their 2014-15 regular season head to head matchups with each Club recording one win apiece.
