The final night of Round Two in the 2018 WHL Playoffs featured a dominant win by the Swift Current Broncos and a sweep of the evening’s WHL Three Stars.
Broncos captain Glenn Gawdin (Calgary Flames) earned first star honours for the evening with a pair of goals and two more assists for a four-point performance. Gawdin scored Swift Current’s second and fourth goals of the game, earning assists on the Broncos’ first and fifth goals. Gawdin finished the seven-game series with nine points (4G-5A) against the Warriors. Gawdin now has 20 points (9G-11A) in 14 games during the 2018 WHL Playoffs.
Earning the second star honours for the evening was defenceman Colby Sissons (New Jersey Devils), who scored the game-winning goal and set up the Broncos’ third and four goals, drawing the only assist on both scores. Sissons now has 12 points (2G-10A) in 14 games during the 2018 WHL Playoffs.
Rounding out the WHL Three Stars was Broncos goaltender Stuart Skinner (Edmonton Oilers), who stopped all 25 shots sent his way for the clean sheet. The shutout was Skinner’s third straight on the road against the Warriors as he stopped 101 of 105 shots during the four games at Mosaic Place. In the 2018 WHL Playoffs, Skinner has an 8-6 record, 2.07 goals-against-average, .934 save percentage and four shutouts.
