Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League announced today that Moose Jaw Warriors goaltender Brody Willms has been named the WHL Goaltender of the Week and the league nominee for the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 12, 2017.

Willms led the Warriors to a home-and-home sweep of the Regina Pats this weekend, helping to keep them at the top of a tight division and the Eastern Conference as a whole.

Friday in Regina, Willms made 31 saves in a 3-2 victory for the Warriors. With the game tied heading into the final period, Willms stopped all 12 shots in the third, allowing the Warriors enough time to score the go-ahead goal.

Sunday’s second-half of the weekend set took place in Moose Jaw, where Willms stopped 23 of 24 shots in a 3-1 victory. After giving up a goal in the first period, Willms stopped all 15 shots in the second and third periods. With Willms in net this weekend, the Warriors never trailed.

Originally drafted in the eighth round, 161st overall, by the Warriors in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft, Willms has appeared in 80 games with the Warriors, compiling a 37-27-6-0 record with a 3.21 goals against average and 0.905 SV%.

The pair of wins allowed Willms to tie his career-high total for wins last season with 12 victories. Willms also presently sits in a four-way tie for the most wins in the WHL this season. His 2.57 goals against average ranks third in the league while his .916 SV% ranks him fifth in the league. He also has one shutout to his name this season.

The Warriors are in action Tuesday, November 14 (6:00 p.m. MST) when they head west to battle the Swift Current Broncos.
