Medicine Hat, AB – The Medicine Hat Tigers announced Thursday morning they have struck a deal with the Prince George Cougars to acquire 95 born goaltender Mack Shields in exchange for a 2017 7th Round Bantam Draft Pick.

Prior to joining the Cougars, Shields played the previous 3 seasons with the Calgary Hitmen. Last year with the Hitmen, Shields went 27-16-0-2 with a 2.67 GAA and 0.900 save percentage. He also posted a 6-2-1 record with a 2.99 GAA and .908 save percentage in the 2015 WHL Playoffs.

Currently this year in Prince George, Shields saw action in 8 games recording a 3-3-0-0 record, 3.29 GAA and 0.880 save percentage.

In his WHL career, the 6’4” Saskatoon native has appeared in 106 games with a record of 60-29-0-3 with 6 shutouts and a goals against average of 2.85.

The trade was made following an injury to 20 year old goaltender Austin Lotz. Lotz was acquired by the Tigers on waivers at the 20 year old cut deadline October 15th. Lotz re-aggravated a previous injury last weekend and has been placed on injured reserve while awaiting surgery.
