Tigers’ Brinkman & Søgaard to play for Denmark

Medicine Hat, Alta. — The Medicine Hat Tigers announced today that forward Jonathan Brinkman and goaltender Mads Søgaard will be playing for Denmark in the 2020 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship Division 1 Group A Tournament.

Søgaard and Brinkman will report to Team Denmark after the Tigers’ Teddy Bear Toss game this Saturday, November 30th (7:30 p.m. MT) against the Saskatoon Blades.

The tournament will be played in Minsk, Belarus beginning December 9, 2019 and will be a single game round-robin format where each team will play each other once. The first-ranked team of the event will be promoted to the top division at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. Team Denmark will take on Team Latvia in their opening game.

Søgaard has been playing for the Denmark’s Under-20 team since 2017-18 while Brinkman joined the Under-20 National Team in 2018-19. The Medicine Hat Tigers would like to congratulate both Mads and Jonathan and wish them luck in the tournament.

The goaltender Søgaard is a prospect of the Ottawa Senators and was chosen 37th overall at the 2019 NHL Draft.
