REBELS MELT ICE – Rhyse Dieno scored twice and chipped in two assists to lead the Red Deer Rebels to a 6-2 victory over the visiting Kootenay Ice in Western Hockey League action on Thursday.
Turner Elson also scored two goals while Dominik Volek – with a goal and an assist – and Matt Bellerive also counted for the Rebels (27-20-4-2), who scored the game’s last four goals en route to their second straight victory. Patrik Bartosak made 23 saves to claim his 21st win of the season.
Brock Montgomery and Sam Reinhart – with his 27th of the season – scored while Jaedon Descheneau chipped in two assists for the Ice (23-27-2-0), who suffer their second loss in as many nights. Mackenzie Skapski made 24 saves in a losing cause.
ROCKETS 6, ROYALS 1
Tyson Baillie scored twice to pace the Kelowna Rockets to a 6-1 victory over the visiting Victoria Royals on Thursday night.
Zach Franko, Tyrell Goulbourne, Jesse Lees and Colton Sissons also scored for the Rockets (38-10-3-1), who went 2-for-5 on the power play as they stretch their home-ice win streak to 22 games. Jordon Cooke made 28 saves to post his 28th win of the season.
Jamie Crooks – with his 23rd of the campaign – scored the lone tally for the Royals (27-18-1-3), who allowed the game’s first four goals as they suffer their second loss in a row. Patrik Polivka made 28 stops in the setback.
