The Everett Silvertips added another blueline piece for the playoff drive Wednesday morning, acquiring 18-year-old defenceman Jameson Murray from the Calgary Hitmen.
In return, the Hitmen have received a conditional sixth-round selection in the 2019 or 2020 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
Murray, a 6-foot-3, 184-pound product of Kelowna, B.C. made his debut with the Hitmen last season, playing in 35 games, registering three points (1G-2A). His first career WHL goal also counted as the game-winning goal in a February 2017 game against the Red Deer Rebels.
Overall, Murray has played in 63 career WHL games, tallying nine points (2G-7A), including one game-winning goal. He also has 12 penalty minutes and 16 recorded shots on goal.
the Silvertips have significantly improved their blueline in recent days in addition to acquiring Murray, making a push to acquire Dallas Stars signed prospect Ondrej Vala from the Kamloops Blazers Sunday.
The Silvertips are in action Wednesday, January 10 (7:05 p.m. PST), hosting the Tri-City Americans. The Hitmen are also in action today, taking on the league-leading Moose Jaw Warriors. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. CST.
The WHL’s Trade Deadline is set for 3 p.m. MT. All the trades will be listed on the WHL’s Live Blog.
