Silvertips acquire Hendren from Giants for draft pick

The Everett Silvertips and Vancouver Giants came together on a weekend trade Saturday, sending defenceman Parker Hendren south of the 49th parallel.

In return, the Giants have received a conditional seventh-round selection in the 2022 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Hendren, a 5-foot-11, 202-pound product of Regina, Sask. was originally selected by the Giants in the seventh round, 134th overall, at the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. In the 2018-19 WHL Regular Season, Hendren appeared in 26 games, posting two points (1G-1A). His first-career WHL goal came on October 6, 2018 against the Prince George Cougars.

Overall, the 18-year-old Hendren has appeared in 36 WHL regular season games with the Giants, posting two points (1G-1A).

Hendren also appeared in 16 regular season games with the Regina AAA Pat Canadians of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League (SMHL) during 2018-19, posting 19 points (2G-17A). He also appeared in eight playoff games, recording eight points (2G-6A). In the 2016-17 season, Hendren was a part of the Pat Canadians team that won the SMHL championship.

The Silvertips’ pre-season schedule continues Saturday, August 31 (7:00 p.m. PT) against the Spokane Chiefs. The Giants’ pre-season continues Sunday, September 1 (11:30 a.m. PT) against the Chiefs as well.
