EVERETT, Wash. – The Everett Silvertips (@WHLSilvertips) and general manager Garry Davidson announced today that the club has acquired goaltender Dorrin Luding from the Saskatoon Blades in exchange for a sixth round selection in the 2019 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
“Dorrin is a goaltender with size and winning credentials who has continued to develop with terrific potential,” said Davidson. “As we’re anticipating Carter Hart’s potential absence with commitments to Hockey Canada for the upcoming World Junior Championship, the move to acquire Dorrin helps address an immediate need for goaltending depth with our current roster, imperative in the oncoming weeks.”
Luding, 17, has appeared this season in nine games with the Valley West Hawks (BCMML), compiling a 4-4-0 record and 2.93 goals-against-average. He was 1-1-0 in two preseason games this year with Saskatoon, earning a win over Moose Jaw on Sept. 1 with 24 saves.
The 6-foot-1, 205 pound goaltender was originally selected by the Blades in the third round (66th overall) of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft and earned a gold medal at the Western Canadian Bantam AAA Championship, additionally racking up a 34-3-1 record, 18 shutouts, 0.96 goals-against-average and .934 save percentage in 38 games with the North Shore Winter Club (PCBHL) in 2013-14.
The Silvertips return to play Wednesday at XFINITY Arena, hosting the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 p.m. (1380 AM / 95.3 FM / Tips App). Tickets for as low as $8 are available at www.everettsilvertips.com/ticketpromos,
