RED DEER REBELS: Name Taylor Dakers Goaltending Coach

RED DEER, AB – Brent Sutter, President/General Manager/Head Coach of the Red Deer Rebels Hockey Club, announced today Taylor Dakers (pronounced: DAY-kurs) has been hired as the team’s new Goaltending Coach.

Taylor Dakers played four seasons with the Kootenay Ice from 2003-2007 and was a 5th round selection of the San Jose Sharks in the 2005 National Hockey League Entry Draft.  He had been the Goaltender Coach with the Everett Silvertips the last two seasons and works fulltime with World Pro Goaltending in Calgary.

Dakers will work with the Red Deer Rebels roster goaltenders as well as goaltenders on the team’s protected list.  He will assist the Rebels scouting staff in the evaluation of goaltenders for the Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Brent Sutter – “We’re very pleased to add Taylor to our coaching staff.  Taylor has coached goaltenders and he brings that coaching experience. Also, we were looking for someone that had played at a high level, he’s played in our league and professionally, so he brings that knowledge of the position too.  We look forward to adding him to our coaching staff.”

Taylor Dakers – “I’m very excited to be part of the Red Deer Rebels organization. There is a very strong tradition of producing great teams and great players. Being able to work alongside professionals like Brent Sutter, Jeff Truitt, and Steve O’Rourke is an honour and I look forward to helping develop the best players we possibly can.”
