Oil Kings and Cougars to play pre-season games in Dawson Creek, B.C.

Dawson Creek, B.C. – Spectra Venue Management, Operators of Tourism Dawson Creek in partnership with the Edmonton Oil Kings and Prince George Cougars are excited to announce the Western Hockey League Exhibition Series in Dawson Creek at the Encana Events Centre on Thursday, September 12 (7:00 p.m. PT) and Saturday, September 14 (1:00 p.m. PT).

Tickets will be available for purchase on Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m. PST.  Tickets are priced at $25.00 each or get two tickets for $40.00 or four tickets for $80.00 plus applicable fees.  Tickets may be purchased online at www.tigerboxofficeplus.ca by phone at 1-877-339-8499, and in person at the Tiger Box Office Plus locations at the Encana Events Centre in Dawson Creek or the Systems Sound Source Ticket Outlet in Fort St. John.

The Edmonton Oil Kings and the Prince George Cougars will travel to Dawson Creek, B.C. to play a two-game series at the Encana Events Centre with proceeds heading to the Dawson Creek & District Hospital Foundation.

“When the City of Dawson Creek asked Spectra to shift some focus to Sports and Events Tourism last year, we began to work hard to support both the local level sports and up to the provincial and national levels and we are excited with this announcement of the WHL exhibition series featuring the Oil Kings and Cougars,” said Spectra’s Ryan MacIvor, General Manager of the Encana Events Centre and Tourism Dawson Creek, “This is another example of us working with our partners and creating an event that is not seen in any other market. Moreover, this work is a continuation of the relationships that were fostered from hosting the World U-17 Hockey Challenge in 2015 and 2017.

“When council identified Sports and Events Tourism to Spectra and Tourism Dawson Creek, we knew that we could potentially see some high caliber events and here we are announcing that two WHL teams are coming north to visit our city and showcase their talent at the Encana Events Centre and how this just further proves we are heading in the right direction when it comes to hosting events.” Said Dale Bumstead, Mayor of Dawson Creek.

The rest of the 2019 WHL Pre-season schedule will be announced at a later date.
