Prince George, BC – The Prince George Cougars announced Monday the acquisition of 18 year old goalie Ty Rimmer from the Brandon Wheat Kings.  In return, the Wheat Kings get a sixth round pick in the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft.

Rimmer, a 5’11”, 175 pound product of Edmonton, AB, was selected by the Wheat Kings in the 14th round, 303rd overall, in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft.  Rimmer has played in four games this season, going 2-2-0-0, with a 2.77 goals against average and a save percentage of .902.


Brandon, Manitoba – The Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that 18-year old netminder Ty Rimmer has been traded to the Prince George Cougars for a 6th round pick in the 2012 Bantam Draft.

An 18-year old Edmonton product, Rimmer appeared in four games with the Wheat Kings this season.

Chosen by the Wheat Kings in the 14th round of the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft, Rimmer was 2-2-0 with a 2.77 goals against average and a .902 save percentage this season.

Monday’s trade leaves the Wheat Kings with two 17-year old rookie goalkeepers on their active roster – Liam Liston and Corbin Boes.

The Wheat Kings will continue a stretch of eight straight road games this Wednesday night when they meet Rimmer and the Cougars in Prince George.
