Broncos acquire Benson from Warriors

 

Before another edition of the Trans-Canada Clash Saturday, the Moose Jaw Warriors and Swift Current Broncos swung an early evening trade.

Heading to the Broncos is 2000-born defenceman Matthew Benson while the Warriors have acquired a seventh-round selection in the 2023 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

A 6-foot-2, 199-pound product of White Rock, B.C., Benson was originally listed by the Warriors and has spent his entire WHL career with the team. This season, Benson has three points (2G-1A) in 12 games, including one power-play goal and one game-winning goal.

To date, Benson has appeared in 112 WHL regular season games, posting 15 points (2G-13A), including the one power-play goal and one game-winning goal. Benson has also appeared in seven WHL playoff games since 2017, registering a single goal.

The pucks drops at Mosaic Place between the Broncos and Warriors at 7:00 p.m. CT.
