58 WHL Players on November ‘Players to Watch’ List for 2017 NHL Draft

Calgary, AB – NHL Central Scouting has issued its November ‘Players to Watch’ list for the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, with 58 WHL players being named.

NHL Central Scouting identifies players with a rating system that includes four categories. The ‘A’ rating indicates a first round candidate, a ‘B’ rating indicates a second or third round candidate, and a ‘C’ rating indicates a fourth, fifth, or sixth round candidate. An ‘LV’ rating indicates Limited Viewing of injured players who have not had sufficient viewings to be categorized.

The WHL leads all CHL teams with nine players listed as ‘A’ category prospects, including skaters Cal Foote (Kelowna Rockets), Cody Glass (Portland Winterhawks), Stelio Mattheos (Brandon Wheat Kings), Nolan Patrick (Brandon Wheat Kings), Nikita Popugaev (Moose Jaw Warriors), Michael Rasmussen (Tri-City Americans), Juuso Valimaki (Tri-City Americans) and Kailer Yamamoto (Spokane Chiefs), along with goaltender Ian Scott (Prince Albert Raiders).

A total of 11 WHL players were named ‘B’ prospects with another 38 listed as ‘C’ prospects.

Including Scott, seven WHL goaltenders were amongst the 58 players recognized on the ‘Players to Watch’ list.

The Spokane Chiefs lead the WHL with six players included in the rankings, followed by the Moose Jaw Warriors and Regina Pats, who feature five each.
