Jackpots for Junior Hockey is an important fundraising initiative supporting the WHL’s 5 Alberta based junior hockey teams and the AJHL’s 15 junior hockey teams to ensure future generations of play continues. Junior hockey is an important part of the sport and cultural landscape in the province. The AJHL and WHL are proud to partner with the Government of Alberta and RE/MAX of Western Canada on this initiative.

Tickets will be available for purchase starting at 9:00 AM MST on the Friday of the 50/50 Raffle Game Weekend. Sales will close at 9:00 PM MST on the Sunday of the 50/50 Raffle Game Weekend. After Sales have been closed, the draw shall take place and be announced no later than 11:59 PM on the Sunday of the 50/50 Raffle Game Weekend. The winning raffle number will be posted on the website at www.WHL.ca/50-50, as well as on the WHL, WHL Clubs’, AJHL and AJHL Clubs’ social media channels, shortly after the draw.

The Raffle is open to all persons who are located in the Province of Alberta when purchasing tickets online. Ticket purchasers must be 18 years of age or older.

If the ticket purchaser has not received their ticket(s) by 9 AM MST on the Monday immediately following the 50/50 Raffle Game Weekend, they can e-mail Resend5050@oilkings.ca to request that their ticket(s) be resent. They must e-mail from the same e-mail they purchased ticket(s) with. Ticket(s) will be resent between noon and 3 PM MST the Monday immediately following the 50/50 Raffle Game Weekend. Any emails sent to Resend5050@oilkings.ca after noon MST on the Monday immediately following the 50/50 Raffle Game Weekend, to request that their ticket(s) be resent will not be processed.

• Discount 1 Ticket: Ten dollars ($10.00) for ten (10) raffle numbers (C)
• Discount 2 Ticket: Twenty dollars ($20.00) for sixty (60) raffle numbers (B)
• Discount 3 Ticket: Fifty dollars ($50.00) for two hundred (200) raffle numbers (A)

WINNING TICKET INFO

The winning raffle number will be posted on the website at www.WHL.ca/50-50, as well as on the WHL, WHL Clubs’, AJHL and AJHL Clubs’ social media channels, shortly after the draw. In the case of a discrepancy between the posted raffle number and the actual raffle number selected through RNG, the actual raffle number selected through RNG will be considered to be the valid winning raffle number.

The holder of the ticket containing the winning raffle number will have until 4:00 PM MST 4 business days from the time of the announcement of the winning raffle number to present the ticket containing the winning raffle number to the Association. If the winner has not come forward within 2 business days from the time of the announcement of the winning raffle number, the Association will use the email and/or phone number provided by the ticket purchaser to try to contact them.

Ticket purchasers may not transfer their tickets to anyone else prior to claiming the prize. The holder of the ticket containing the winning raffle number may claim their prize by contacting the 50/50 office at 5050@oilkings.ca and forwarding their purchase e-mail and a copy of their government issued photo identification and address. The name on the government issued photo identification must match the name that was used to purchase the ticket. Each prize claimant must provide the Association with all information required by provincial gaming regulations to claim a prize. The prize claimant will be required to sign a Declaration and Release (“Release”) which must be executed and returned to the Association no later than 5 business days after his/her receipt of the Release. The winner’s name will be publicized on the list of prize winners located at www.WHL.ca/50-50, as well as on the WHL, WHL Clubs’, AJHL and AJHL Clubs’ social media channels. All prizes will be awarded to the winners via cheque within 30 days of the winner delivering the ticket containing the winning raffle number, the executed Release, and all other required documents to the Association. All Prizes not claimed on or before the Prize Claim Expiry Date (4:00 PM MST, 4 business days from the time of the announcement of the winning raffle number), will be added to one or more jackpots at the discretion of the Association, with AGLC approval. This means that any unclaimed Prizes will be redistributed by adding the amount to the Raffle of the designated 50/50 Raffle Game Weekend.

The COVID-19 pandemic has put the 20 Alberta based junior hockey teams (15 AJHL and 5 Alberta-based WHL teams) at risk of not being able to continue operating. AJHL and WHL teams attract over 1.5 million Alberta hockey fans annually, injecting a combined $100+ million annually into communities across the province, while contributing over $1.4M in support to local minor hockey and charitable organizations each season. The Jackpots for Junior Hockey 50/50 is a way for Albertans to support junior hockey in Alberta and deliver meaningful funds to support player development and coaching as well as educational scholarships for players. The Jackpots for Junior Hockey 50/50 will help to ensure these teams can remain in their communities for future seasons.
