Calgary, Alta. — The Western Hockey League announced today that Portland Winterhawks forward Cody Glass has been named the WHL Player of the Month for November 2017.

Glass, who was made the first-ever draft choice of the Vegas Golden Knights when he was taken sixth overall in the 2017 NHL Draft, recorded 26 points (13G-13A) in 12 games. His offensive skills led the Portland Winterhawks through an incredible November, where they went 11-0-0-1, helping them open up a 10 point lead in the competitive U.S. Division. Ten of those games were multi-point efforts for Glass, as he contributed seven power play goals and three game-winning goals throughout the month. Four of his games featured multi-goal efforts.

The 6-foot-2, 177-pound product of Winnipeg, Man., found his way onto the score sheet in all 12 games and will also carry a five-game goal scoring streak in to the month of December. Glass has rocketed himself into contention in the WHL’s scoring race, sitting sixth in the league with 47 points (19G-28A) in 25 games. He sits fifth in the league with 28 assists.

His efforts earned him WHL On the Run Player of the Week honours for the week ending November 26, also collecting the CHL Player of the Week honours for the first time this season. Glass represented Team WHL at the 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series, recording a goal and an assist over the first two games of the six-game series.

Glass was twice named the first star of the game, earning second star honours four times and third star honours once. He was recognized by the WHL’s nightly three stars on three occasions, earning the third star of the night in all three cases.

Originally drafted by the Winterhawks in the first round, 19th overall, of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, Glass has been a force since coming into the league. He’s scored 168 points (61G-107A) in 162 career WHL regular season games.

The Winterhawks have returned home following a six-game road trip through the Central Division and will host the Saskatoon Blades at the Moda Centre on Sunday, December 3 (5:00 PST).
