TORONTO, ON – Shining the spotlight on hockey’s future stars, Sportsnet is set to deliver exclusive national coverage of the 2017-18 Canadian Hockey League season, beginning Monday, Nov. 6. In addition to weekly CHL Saturday Showcase broadcasts from across the league, CHL coverage on Sportsnet features three marquee events – the 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series, the 2018 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, and the 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup.

Exclusive English-language Canadian coverage of the CHL kicks off on Sportsnet this coming Monday when the Canadian World Junior hopefuls of the Western Hockey League host Team Russia in the first game of the 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series. Coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Sportsnet West, Sportsnet ONE and Sportsnet NOW. The WHL recently announced their roster for the games as well as the leadership group for the pair of games. This year’s team is led by Kelowna Rockets forward and Calgary Flames prospect Dillon Dube.

Following the six-game series, Sportsnet’s weekly CHL Saturday Showcase afternoon broadcasts deliver coverage of must-see action from across the Ontario Hockey League, the Western Hockey League and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League throughout the regular season. (Full broadcast details below).

The WHL will make five appearances on the CHL 2017-18 Broadcast Schedule on Sportsnet, beginning Nov. 25 as Detroit Red Wings prospect Lane Zablocki and the Red Deer Rebels visit Carolina Hurricanes draft pick Jake Bean and the Calgary Hitmen at the Scotiabank Saddledome. December’s matchup features an all-East Division battle as Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Brett Howden and the Moose Jaw Warriors head east to battle St. Louis Blues prospect Tanner Kaspick and the Brandon Wheat Kings on Dec. 30.

The first WHL broadcast in the 2018 calendar year will see the 2016-17 WHL Player of the Year Sam Steel and the 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup host Regina Pats face-off against Arizona Coyotes prospect and WHL leading scorer Tyler Steenbergen and the rest of his Swift Current Broncos squad.

Feb. 10 marks the second CHL Saturday Showcase broadcast appearance for the Rebels as they head north to do battle with the Edmonton Oil Kings at Rogers Place.

Last, but certainly not least, Sportsnet will broadcast the headlining-event of the Regina Pats Homecoming Weekend as the Pats host the Warriors in an outdoor game at Mosaic Stadium. This game will mark the second appearance on Sportsnet this season for both clubs.

Broadcasting details for the CHL Playoffs and 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup, hosted by the Regina Pats, will be announced later.
