Another member of the Swift Current Broncos is heading south of the border to join the Everett Silvertips.

Monday, the Broncos dealt 19-year-old forward Max Patterson to the Western Conference leaders as they look to maintain a strong hold on their lead in the U.S. Division and the conference.

In return, the Broncos received unsigned 16-year-old forward Dawson Springer, a fourth-round selection in the 2020 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft, and a conditional sixth-round selection in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft.

“Max Patterson has developed into an impact player with size and an elevated offensive skill set, who checks off a lot of boxes for our needs and how he fits into our program,” said Silvertips General Manager Garry Davidson. “Our team’s ability to openly welcome somebody new to our program speaks volumes of our character and it’s evident the way two of his reunited teammates, Sahvan Khaira and Artyom Minulin, have become a great fit very quickly.

“We’re excited to bring him in as a part of the Silvertips family and will look forward to his availability on Wednesday for our next game against Spokane.”

Through 27 games this season, Patterson had 19 points (8G-11A), including three power-play goals and one game-winning goal.

Patterson has been a solid offensive contributors during his time in the WHL. Originally selected in the fourth round, 77th overall, by the Kootenay ICE in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, Patterson made his WHL debut during the 2015-16 WHL Regular Season, scoring his first WHL goal on October 7, 2015.

After 127 WHL regular games with the ICE, Patterson was traded to the Broncos where he played 99 games with the Broncos, winning a WHL Championship with the team in May 2018. Overall, Patterson has appeared in 226 WHL regular season games, posting 68 points (32G-36A), including eight power-play goals and four game-winning goals.

Patterson has 11 multi-point games to his credit during his WHL career and two multi-goal games.

Heading the other way in Monday’s trade is Springer, a 16-year-old product of Yorkton, Sask. Springer was originally listed by the Silvertips and has been playing with the Prince Albert Mintos of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League. In 21 games, Springer has posted 25 points (18G-7A).

Up next for the Silvertips is a home date against the Spokane Chiefs on Wednesday, December 5 (7:05 p.m. PT). The Broncos will take to the ice next against the Prince Albert Raiders on Tuesday, December 4 (7:00 p.m. CT).
