Tuesday's WHL Round-up

AMERICANS TOPPLE BLAZERS – Rookie defenseman Drydn Dow scored the first two goals of his WHL career and added an assist to lead the visiting Tri-City Americans to an 8-3 win over the Kamloops Blazers in Western Hockey League action on Tuesday, November 3rd.

 

Brendan Shinnimin and Jordan Messier each tallied a goal and an assist while Kruise Reddick, Neal Prokop and Tyler Schmidt also counted for the Americans (14-3-0-0), who earn their third straight win on the road and take over sole possession of first place in the U.S. Division.  Drew Owsley made 25 saves to improve to 13-3 this season.

 

Tyler Shattock, Brett Lyon and Jake Trask scored for the Blazers (8-9-2-0), who suffer their seventh straight loss and fall under the .500 mark for the first time this season.  Justin Leclerc made 41 saves in a losing cause.

BLADES 2, WARRIORS 1

 

Walker Wintoneak’s 11th goal of the season midway through the third period lifted the Saskatoon Blades to a 2-1 victory over the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors on Tuesday.

 

Burke Gallimore scored on a second-period penalty shot for the Blades (14-3-0-2), who pick up their second win in four days over the Warriors and sixth straight win overall.  Adam Morrison made 33 saves to backstop the Blades to the win.

 

Brendan Rowinski – with his 11th goal of the season – had the lone marker for the Warriors (11-7-0-0), who fell 4-3 to the Blades on Saturday night in Moose Jaw.  Jeff Bosch made 27 saves in the defeat.

SILVERTIPS 3, TIGERS 1

 

Scott MacDonald scored once and added an assist and Thomas Heemskerk turned aside 25 of 26 shots he faced to lead the visiting Everett Silvertips to a 3-1 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Tuesday.

 

Shane Harper and Byron Froese also scored for the Silvertips (10-4-0-0), who have won their first four games on their Central Division road trip.  The ‘Tips remain in third place in the U.S. Division.

 

Bretton Cameron scored his WHL-leading 18th goal of the season for the Tigers (9-7-2-2), who have dropped four of their last five games.  Tyler Bunz made 16 saves in the defeat.
