The organization
The Western Hockey League started with just seven teams based in the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta in 1966.  The WHL now has representation in all four Western Canadian provinces and the U.S. states of Oregon and Washington.  The WHL consists of 22 member Clubs with 17 based in Canadian markets and 5 in the U.S. Pacific Northwest.
The WHL is a member of the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) whose membership is comprised of three major junior hockey leagues: Ontario Hockey League (OHL), Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) and the Western Hockey League (WHL).  At the conclusion of each League’s playoffs, the CHL hosts the MasterCard Memorial Cup.  A National Championship tournament involving each of the League’s Champion and the tournament host.
The Western Hockey League’s Head Office is located in Calgary, Alberta and is responsible to administer all functions related to League operations.  Under the direction of the WHL Commissioner, the WHL Head Office functions include: game supervision, scheduling, League meeting, player drafts, agreements and scholarships, player transactions, finance, marketing, media relations, communications and statistics/results.
 
About the Internships
The Ed Chynoweth Internships are made possible through a generous contribution from the Daryl K. Seaman Canadian Hockey Fund. The internship was established in 2011 following the passing of Ed Chynoweth, who served as the long-time president of the Western Hockey League and Canadian Hockey League, a director of the CHL, team owner, pioneer, and one of the most influential men in junior ice hockey in Canada.
The internships are based out of the 3 CHL offices (WHL, QMJHL, OHL) and Hockey Canada’s National Office and are awarded annually to outstanding college or university graduates who are pursuing a career in sports administration, sport marketing, sport communication or program development and have previously played hockey in the Canadian Hockey League or with Hockey Canada Women’s National Teams program.

Position Summary

Based at the Western Hockey League head office in Calgary and reporting to Vice President, Hockey and the Director of Officiating,  the Intern, Hockey Operations essential duties and responsibilities will include:

Primary Responsibilities:
•    Complete research and reporting for various research projects; Alumni records, Statistics, etc.
•    Maintaining archive game DVD’s and score sheets
•    Assisting the Officiating Department with
o    Video clip collection from game tapes
o    Video library updates
o    Video projects and special assignments
•    Assist with logistics and execution of Prospect Player Camps
•    Assist with logistics and execution of Officiating Camps
•    Provide support for the WHL Bantam Draft & WHL Awards
•    Perform office support duties for the Hockey Operations department as needed
•    Other assignments as per annual plan
•    Carries out other duties as assigned

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
•    Outgoing personality and enthusiastic attitude
•    Familiarity with sport administration, hockey terminology
•    Operational knowledge of video equipment
•    Computer proficient in Word, Excel & Power Point
•    Ability to take direction, work independently and work in a group environment
•    Detail oriented
•    Well organized, able to handle several tasks at the same time
•    Able to establish priorities, meet deadlines and work under pressure
•    Flexible in working hours

Monthly Stipend - $1,200/month

Applicants must have the ability to sell, service and maintain existing sponsorship accounts, executing and creating new in game promotions and Brandt Centre signage opportunities.

Computer knowledge needed; must be able to learn the ticket-master computer software, outlook, word, power-point, excel, Windows Movie Maker, a basic understanding of Adobe creative suite is an asset (includes photo-shop, In-design, elements, audition)

MOOSE JAW WARRIORS - BOX OFFICE MANAGER

The Moose Jaw Warriors Hockey Club is currently seeking a Box Office Manager
Full Time, Permanent

Summary of Duties
Under the direction of the Moose Jaw Warriors Dir. of Business Operations, the applicant
manages the operations of the Mosaic Place Box Office.
o Oversees fulfillment of ticket sales over the phone, online & in person at the venue box office
o Build all events using Showare Ticketing Solution
o Process group orders
o Supervises accurate cash out procedures at end of shift
o Prepares clear and accurate ticketing reports by performance
o Hires, trains, schedules and supervises all box office staff
o Enforces Box Office policies/procedures
o Strives to improve service throughout the box office
o Maintains an open and accurate channel of communication with Mosaic Place
Management & the Moose Jaw Warriors
o Ensures box office staff are informed about current shows & upcoming events
o Correctly establish ticket prices, fees & taxes
o Monitor events on a consistent basis from event creation until after the show
occurs to ensure tickets are selling correctly.
o Maintain records on each events such as production kills, discount codes, & holds
o Prepare post-production event audit.
o Continuously updating backend of ticketing site using HTML

Skills & Requirements
Post secondary education, experience in a ticketing environment is preferred but not
required.
Knowledge of HTML an asset
Basic accounting & mathematical skills
Minimum 2 years experience in a supervisor/managerial position with excellent
leadership, decision making & problem solving skills.
Experience working in a fast paced, deadline oriented environment
Quick learner
Highly motivated self-starter with initiative.
Very strong communication skills
Advanced level in Word, Excel and the use of Internet.
Ability to maintain a calm and cheerful manner under pressure

The successful candidate will be an energetic, positive individual who excels at sales and customer
service. The primary focus of this person will be to maintain a strong and loyal client base and add new
customers. The position will market season tickets along with a wide variety of marketing assets of the
organization.

Knowledge of the Warriors, Western Hockey League and City of Moose Jaw would be assets for this
