The final edition of the WHL Three Stars for March was aided by Saturday’s results in the 2018 WHL Playoffs, which saw a pair of teams secure their status into Round Two.
Carter Hart (Philadelphia Flyers) led the way with a 36-save shutout to clinch the Everett Silvertips’ series against the Seattle Thunderbirds in a 4-0 win. Hart made 11 saves in the first, 14 in the second, and 11 more in the third for his third career playoff shutout. He finished the series with 150 saves on 160 shots for a .938 save percentage and 1.97 goals-against average.
Brad Morrison closed out an incredible five-game series against the Red Deer Rebels, lifting the Lethbridge Hurricanes to the series with with a pair of goals and four points in Saturday’s 6-4 victory at home, earning second star honours for the night. Morrison finished the series with 16 points (6G-10A) in five games as the top scorer from the series. Morrison is also the scoring leader for the playoffs, leading the league in assists as well.
Cameron Hebig (Edmonton Oilers) rounded out the podium Saturday with a pair of goals and three points in the Regina Pats’ 7-2 win over the Swift Current Broncos. The multi-goal performance was his second of the series and gave him seven points (5G-2A) through the first six games.
