#WHLPlayoffs Three Stars: April 10, 2018

Another strong performance by the Tri-City Americans guided them to dominate Tuesday’s edition of the WHL Three Stars.

Morgan Geekie (Carolina Hurricanes) led the way with a hat trick and four points in his team’s 6-5 win over the Victoria Royals, moving them to within a game of reaching Round Three of the 2018 WHL Playoffs. Geekie scored the Americans’ first, third, and fourth goals of the game, also earning a primary assist on his team’s second goal. With 21 points (14G-7A) in seven games, Geekie leads the WHL in goals during the 2018 WHL Playoffs.

Also helping the Americans achieve their victory Tuesday was defenceman Jake Bean (Carolina Hurricanes), who netted five assists in the winning cause. Bean factored into every goal for the Americans besides their third one, setting a personal career-high for points in a single WHL Playoff game. Bean currently sits tied for second in WHL Playoffs scoring for defencemen with 11 points (1G-10A) in seven games.

Rounding out the Three Stars Tuesday was Stelio Mattheos (Carolina Hurricanes), who helped guide the Wheat Kings to a Game Three win by a 5-4 score against the Lethbridge Hurricanes at Westoba Place. Mattheos now has goals in five of his past six games and has 10 points (5G-5A) in nine games during the 2018 WHL Playoffs.
