#WHLChampionship – Three Stars: May 9, 2018

The Swift Current Broncos moved within a game of capturing the 2018 Ed Chynoweth Cup Wednesday, factoring into the leading spots of the WHL Three Stars of the Night as well.

Stuart Skinner’s (Edmonton Oilers) 32-save shutout led the way in the game with him stopping eight shots in the first, 13 in the second, and 11 in the third. The shutout was Skinner’s fifth of the 2018 WHL Playoffs and first of the 2018 Rogers WHL Championship Series. Skinner now has a 15-9 record with two overtime losses, 2.21 goals-against-average, and .931 save percentage as well as the aforementioned clean sheets. Skinner continues to lead all WHL goaltenders in the 2018 WHL Playoffs in the four major statistical categories.

Earning second star honours for the evening was Broncos defenceman Colby Sissons (New Jersey Devils), who scored the lone goal in the game. Sissons continues to lead all defencemen in scoring during the 2018 WHL Playoffs with 22 points (5G-17A) in 24 games. In 38 career WHL Playoffs games, Sissons has 28 points (9G-19A).

Rounding out the WHL Three Stars for Wednesday was Everett Silvertips goaltender Carter Hart (Philadelphia Flyers), who stopped 18 of 19 shots in the fourth one-goal game of the series. Hart has posted a 2.16 GAA, .927 SV% in the 2018 Rogers WHL Championship Series.
