#WHLChampionship – Three Stars: May 5, 2018


An incredible comeback by the Swift Current Broncos sparked them to earn the top two spots in Saturday’s WHL Highlight of the Night.

Giorgio Estephan notched the game-winning goal in overtime, sending the home crowd into a frenzy to even up the 2018 Rogers WHL Championship Series at a game a piece. Estephan also added an assist. His goal was his third game-winning goal of the 2018 WHL Playoffs and 25th of his WHL Playoffs career. The Edmonton, Alta. product now has 49 points (25G-24A) in 45 career WHL Playoffs games.

Also adding a goal and an assist in the victory was Broncos forward Tyler Steenbergen (Arizona Coyotes). Steenbergen scored Swift Current’s third goal of the game, tying up the contest in the dying minutes of the third period. Steenbergen now has 26 points (12G-14A) in 22 games during the 2018 WHL Playoffs.

Rounding out the WHL Three Stars was Everett Silvertips defenceman Ondrej Vala (Dallas Stars), who had a pair of assists. The Kolin, Czech Republic product now has points in four of his last five WHL Playoffs games.
