WHL Playoffs on Shaw: Royals and Rockets Meet for Decisive Game 7

CALGARY, AB – The Kelowna Rockets and Victoria Royals meet for one last time as the two B.C. Division rivals face off in Game 7 of their Round 2 match-up on Tuesday night, live on SHAW HD channel 304 at (8:00pm MT/7:00pm PT). The series is tied at three games apiece.

The B.C. Division Champion Victoria Royals have the advantage of home ice for Game 7 as they are 4-2-0-0 at home in the 2016 WHL Playoffs.  Royals forward Jack Walker leads the Club in scoring in this series with six points (3-3a) to go along with a plus-5 rating. Victoria is undefeated in the post-season when they establish a lead as they are 5-0-0 when leading after the opening 20 minutes and are 6-0-0 when holding a lead through two periods of play.

The Kelowna Rockets look to advance to the WHL Western Conference Championship for the third consecutive year with a win tonight in Victoria. Rourke Chartier leads all skaters in points with six (3g-3a) while teammate Justin Kirkland has netted four goals in the series. The Rockets penalty kill play has been sensational as they enter the match-up with a success rate of 85.0%.

Five of the six games in this series have been determined by one goal. The Royals won the 2015-16 regular season series with the Kelowna Rockets as they took five out of eight match-ups. Royals’ rookie forward Matthew Phillips amassed 16 points (5g-11a) to lead all skaters in the Clubs’ prior head-to-head meetings while Rockets’ forward Justin Kirkland tallied seven points (4g-3a) to lead all Kelowna skaters.
