Warriors work way into CHL Top 10

Andy Devlin

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced the Week 24 edition of the CHL Top-10 Rankings for the 2016-17 season.  The weekly rankings of the CHL’s Top-10 teams are selected by a panel of National Hockey League scouts.

The Regina Pats remain the top-ranked WHL club in the CHL Top 10 but fall from second to third as scouts took note of the four-game skid the Pats hit, which included losses to the Medicine Hat Tigers and Calgary Hitmen last week. Regina did rebound with a win over the Brandon Wheat Kings and will look to keep that up Wednesday evening when visiting the Swift Current Broncos. This is the 23rd week the Pats find themselves among Canada’s best.

Steady as she goes for the Medicine Hat Tigers as they remain seventh in the nation. Medicine Hat has knocked off the Prince Albert Raiders, Regina Pats and Kootenay ICE in recent days, while dropping one outing to the Moose Jaw Warriors. Next, the Tigers welcome the Edmonton Oil Kings to Medicine Hat on Friday. This is the 10th week the Tigers have been ranked among the CHL’s top clubs.

Making their first appearance in the CHL Top 10 this week are the Moose Jaw Warriors, sliding into 10th. Winners of nine consecutive games, the Warriors are rolling at the right time, having defeated the Calgary Hitmen, Medicine Hat Tigers and Kootenay ICE this past week. Next, the Warriors head to Regina for a critical East Division clash against the Pats on Friday.

Earning honourable mentions in this week’s edition of the CHL Top 10 are the Everett Silvertips and Lethbridge Hurricanes.
