Team USA Taps WHL Duo for Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament

USA Hockey announced Thursday that Calgary Hitmen forward Mark Kastelic and Red Deer Rebels forward Austin Pratt will suit up for the 2016 U.S. Under-18 Select Team that will compete at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in Breclav, Czech Republic, and Bratislava, Slovakia in August.

The Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament is held annually in August and features teams comprised of the best talent under the age of 18 from eight nations: Canada, USA, Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland.

Kastelic (Phoenix, AZ) recently completed his rookie season with the Hitmen, collecting 10 points (5g-5a) over 59 games and adding an assist in five WHL Playoff games. Kastelic was selected by the Hitmen with the 41st overall pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.

Pratt (Lakeville, MN) also skated in his rookie season with the Rebels last year, picking up 12 points (8g-4a) in 56 games played. Selected by Red Deer in the fourth round, 75th overall, of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, Pratt attended Shattuck St. Mary’s prior to making the leap to the WHL.
