T-Birds Sign First-Rounder Jake Lee

KENT, June 1, 2016 – Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced defenseman Jake Lee has signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the team.

“I met the coaching staff at the Spring Camp the team held in Calgary last week. It was a good experience and after that meeting with the coaching staff I am 100 percent committed to the T-Birds and understand the hard work and commitment it will take to develop as a player,” said Lee. “I am ecstatic to join the T-Birds.”

“We are very happy to have Jake committed to our team with his signing. Jake has a real presence on the ice and we are confident he will develop into a top defenseman with our team for years to come,” said Farwell,

Lee, who is from Sherwood Park, Alberta, was the T-Birds first round selection, 18th overall, in the 2016 Bantam Draft. Lee played for the Sherwood Park Flyers Bantam AAA team this past season. He played in 32 games and had 11 goals and 16 assists for 27 points with 28 penalty minutes. Lee just took part in the T-Birds Spring Prospect Camp in Calgary.
