Seven WHL Alumni capture 2018 Kelly Cup with Colorado Eagles

 

Calgary, Alta. – The Western Hockey League is proud to recognize seven WHL Alumni as members of the 2018 Kelly Cup Champion Colorado Eagles.

With a 3-2 win Saturday against the Florida Everblades in Saturday’s deciding Game Seven, the Eagles captured their second straight Kelly Cup, which awarded annually to the playoff champion of the ECHL.

WHL Alumni being crowned Kelly Cup champions include players Collin Bowman (Littleton, Colo. / Calgary Hitmen), Drayson Bowman (Littleton, Colo. / Spokane Chiefs), Ryan Harrison (Vernon, B.C. / Everett Silvertips), Ryan Olsen (Delta, B.C. / Kelowna Rockets), Teigan Zahn (Regina, Sask. / Saskatoon Blades), Assistant Coach Ryan Tobler (Calgary, Alta / Moose Jaw Warriors) and Head Coach Chris Stewart (Red Deer, Alta. / Prince Albert Raiders).

Harrison led all WHL Alumni on the Eagles during the team’s run in the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs, recording 14 points (3G-11A) in 24 games. Other top performers in the playoffs for the Eagles included Drayson Bowman recording 11 points (5G-6A) in 20 games and Olsen tallying 11 points (5G-6A) in 22 games. Both Bowman and Olsen each had a pair of game-winning goals throughout the playoffs.

While seven WHL Alumni were crowned as Kelly Cup Champions, the Kelly Cup finalist Florida Everblades claimed four WHL Alumni on their team, including players Brett Bulmer (Prince George, B.C. / Kelowna Rockets), Matt MacKenzie (New Westminster, B.C. / Tri-City Americans), Keegan Kanzig (Athabasca, Alta. / Calgary Hitmen) and Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph (Richmond, Ont. / Kelowna Rockets).
