Silvertips’ Hart named Vaughn WHL Goaltender of the Month for November

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Everett Silvertips goaltender Carter Hart has been named the Vaughn WHL Goaltender of the Month for November 2016.

Hart, an 18-year-old product of Sherwood Park, AB, maintained a record of 6-2-1-0 during November, with an astounding 1.11 goals-against average, .959 save percentage and three shutouts, all of which came consecutively to close out the month. First, Hart steered aside 37 shots on November 23 in a 3-0 win over the Seattle Thunderbirds. Next, he blanked the Prince George Cougars with a 26-save performance in a 3-0 win on November 26. Finally, he wrapped up the month with a 20-save shutout in a 5-0 win over the Kootenay ICE on November 30.

Registering three straight shutouts and without allowing a goal in 187:01, Hart established a new Silvertips record for longest shutout streak (minutes). The record of 178:14 had previously been set by David Reekie (2006-07).

In nine appearances this month, Hart allowed two goals or fewer on eight occasions. The lone outlier was a 3-2 overtime defeat against the Spokane Chiefs on November 12. As a result of his outstanding and consistent efforts, Hart was the first player this season to repeat with WHL weekly honours after winning WHL Goaltender of the Week recognition for the weeks ending November 20 and November 27. He was also named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending November 27.

Drafted in the second round (48th) by the Philadelphia Flyers at the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, Hart is in his third season with the Silvertips, having accumulated a record of 67-32-6-7 with a 2.10 GAA, .921 SV% and 14 shutouts in 116 career WHL regular season appearances.
