Rockets’ Lind named WHL Player of the Week

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that Kelowna Rockets forward Kole Lind has been named the WHL Player of the Week for the week ending February 5, 2017.

Lind provided eight points (3G-5A) in three games to help the Rockets go 3-0-0-0 this past week.

On Wednesday, February 1, Lind chipped in with three assists in an 8-2 win versus Calgary. In Prince George for a pair of weekend outings against the Cougars, Lind struck twice – including a short-handed goal and the game-winner – to earn first star honours as the Rockets secured a 3-2 win on Friday, February 3. The following night, Saturday, February 4, Lind had a three-point evening (1G-2A) as the Rockets notched a 5-1 win over the Cougars.

An 18-year-old product of Shaunavon, SK, Lind sits 12th in the WHL in scoring and leads all Rockets with 66 points (25G-41A) in 51 games this season. Ranked 21st among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s midterm rankings, Lind is eligible for the 2017 NHL Draft.

The 6-foot-1, 173-pound right winger was selected by the Kelowna Rockets in the fourth round (87th) of the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. In 127 career WHL regular season games, Lind has tallied 108 points (39G-69A).
