The Red Deer Rebels and Everett Silvertips completed a small deal Tuesday as the Rebels traded of 18-year old forward Akash Bains south of the border in exchange for a sixth-round selection in the 2019 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Bains was originally drafted by the Rebels in the ninth round, 185th overall, of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft. Bains made his debut with the Rebels in February 2016, and has since played 86 games with the central Alberta club, recording 25 points (8G-17A) in that span. One of his eight goals came on the power play.

A product of the Okanagan Hockey Academy and Delta Hockey Academy, the 6-foot-0, 190-pound forward from Delta, B.C. won CSSHL titles in 2014-15 and 2015-16.
