Raiders, Royals swap defencemen
Jonathon Howe

The Prince Albert Raiders and Victoria Royals swapped defencemen Monday morning.

Headed to northern Saskatchewan is Brayden Pachal (1999) and a sixth round pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft, while island-bound is Loch Morrison (1997) and a fourth round pick in the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft.

The rebuilding Raiders receive the young Pachal, a 6-foot, 194-pound product of Estevan, Sask. A former second round pick (40th) at the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft, Pachal is in his second WHL campaign, having managed nine points (1G-8A) in 75  career WHL regular season outings.

For the Royals, they add the 6-foot-1, 193-pound Morrison – a veteran of 165 career WHL regular season games – as they push towards the playoffs in the ever-challenging B.C. Division. Morrison was originally a seventh round pick (149th) at the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft and has earned 40 points (10G-30A) over the course of his WHL career.

A product of Prince Albert, Morrison was dealt to the Raiders at the 2016 WHL Trade Deadline.
