Raiders acquire Nagy from Royals for Strand, picks
The Prince Albert Raiders added another offensive threat to their lineup Tuesday, acquiring overage forward Regan Nagy from the Victoria Royals.
In exchange, the Royals have received the rights to prospect Hunter Strand, sixth and 10th round picks in the 2018 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft and a third round pick in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.
Nagy, a 6-foot-0, 195-pound product of Ogema, Sask. was originally drafted by the Royals in the second round, 27th overall, of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft. In 26 games this season, Nagy had recorded 24 points (18G-6A). In 253 career WHL games, Nagy has 97 points (50G-47A), including 10 power play goals, three short-handed goals and seven game-winners.
He’s recorded a pair of hat tricks in October against the Saskatoon Blades and Kelowna Rockets.
Heading the other way in the deal is Strand, a 5-foot-11, 165-pound product of Anchorage, Alaska. Selected by the Raiders in the sixth round, 120th overall, of the 2017 WHL Bantam Draft, he has yet to play a WHL game.
The Raiders are back in action at the Art Hauser Centre on Friday, January 5 (7:00 p.m. CST), playing host to the Kootenay ICE. The Royals are back in action Friday, January 5 (7:05 p.m. PST) when they play host to the Everett Silvertips.
