The Portland Winterhawks are headed back to the Western Hockey League Playoffs for a 10th-straight season.

With a 5-2 win against the Seattle Thunderbirds Sunday at home, the Winterhawks can officially finish no worse than a wild card spot by the end of the 2018-19 WHL Regular Season. The Winterhawks join the Prince Albert Raiders, Everett Silvertips, and Vancouver Giants as the other three teams to clinch a spot in the 2019 WHL Playoffs.

Sunday’s win featured a hat trick WHL leading scorer Joachim Blichfeld (San Jose Sharks) and three assists from captain Cody Glass (Vegas Golden Knights) among many of their top performances.

With the win, the Winterhawks can also finish no worse than fourth in the division either by virtue of being 24 points ahead of the fifth-place Thunderbirds’ with Seattle having 11 games remaining.

Up next for the Winterhawks is a date against the division-leading Giants Monday, February 18 (3:00 p.m. PT) at the Langley Events Centre.
