Pats & Hurricanes set to engage in Eastern Conference Championship series

One year after being upset by the Regina Pats in the first round of the 2016 WHL Playoffs, the Lethbridge Hurricanes have earned an opportunity at redemption.

The CHL’s top-ranked Pats will play host to the Hurricanes in the WHL’s Eastern Conference Championship series after both clubs advanced from the second round of the 2017 WHL Playoffs following tightly-contested seven-game slates.

The Pats knocked off the Swift Current Broncos in their Eastern Conference second-round match-up, which ended Monday night at the Brandt Centre. The Hurricanes moved on to the Eastern Conference Championship series thanks to the overtime heroics of captain Tyler Wong, who scored shorthanded in extra time Tuesday night to knock out the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Games 1 and 2 of the best-of-seven series go Friday and Saturday, respectively, at the Brandt Centre in Regina. The series will then shift to the Enmax Centre in Lethbridge, with Games 3 and 4 set for Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
