Hurricanes acquire Henke from Oil Kings

Lethbridge, AB – Lethbridge Hurricanes Assistant General Manager, Brad Robson, announced this morning the defending Eastern Conference Champions have acquired forward, Brent Henke, from the Edmonton Oil Kings in exchange for a 7th round pick in the 2009 WHL Bantam Draft.
rRobson says, “Brent is a bigger forward and should compliment our group by adding some size and power up front to go along with his above average skating ability.” The Canes’ Assistant GM added, “Brent now gives us three 1990 born forwards and that addresses an area of concern for this year and particularly the future.”
rHenke is an Edmonton native originally drafted by the Kootenay ICE in 2005 (100th overall). Henke was claimed by the Oil Kings in the 2007 WHL expansion draft and made his major junior debut last season playing 63 games and scoring 2 goals, 6 assists for 8 points to go with 24 penalty minutes.
rBrent Henke is expected to meet his new team in Medicine Hat this afternoon and make his Hurricane debut in the second game of the home and home series with the Tigers. Lethbridge took the first game 1-0 in overtime Friday night at the ENMAX Centre.
