Welcome to DubNation, an online magazine providing an inside look into the Western Hockey League.
DubNation was brought to life by life-long sports writer Doyle Potenteau who has covered junior hockey for a number of newspapers since graduating from a journalism program in 1989. His idea for a free online magazine dedicated to covering the WHL first sprung to mind in December, 2005, during a road trip through the Prairies with the Rockets, somewhere between Prince Albert and Saskatoon. Countless hours and mock editions later, the first edition was electronically published in September, 2010. Major-junior hockey produces countless stories each year, and the appetite for information about the WHL is voraciously growing, thus the online magazine was born.
In the JUNE 2012 edition, you’ll find a lengthy article on Portland Winterhawks Swiss sensation Sven Bartschi; a story on the rise of the Edmonton Oil Kings; memories from the Memorial Cup; a look a the WHL's fab four top rated defenecman for the NHL, along with loads of photos and imagery to enjoy.
