Broncos shore up defence, acquire Sambrook from Wheat Kings for draft pick

Garrett Sambrook is on his way to Speedy Creek.
The Brandon Wheat Kings dealt the 18-year-old defenceman to the Swift Current Broncos Friday, helping the Broncos to bolster their blue line.
In return, the Wheat Kings received a conditional ninth-round pick in the 2020 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
Sambrook, a 6-foot-0, 170-pound product of Medora, Man. was originally selected by the Wheat Kings in the sixth round, 131st overall, at the 2015 WHL Bantam Draft. Since then, he’s appeared in 70 WHL regular season games with the Wheat Kings, tallying 10 points (1G-9A).
Sambrook has yet to appear in a game with the Wheat Kings during the 2018-19 WHL Regular Season, instead appearing in seven games with the Virden Oil Capitals of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League.
