Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has signed 19-year-old forward Matt Dorsey to a WHL Standard Player Agreement. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound forward played last season with the Wenatchee Wild of the British Columbia Hockey League.

“We are excited that Matt will be joining our hockey club,” said Tory. “He is a skilled forward with very good speed.”

Dorsey was selected by the Calgary Hitmen in the third-round of the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft after posting 52 points (32G-20A) in 30 games with the Arizona Bobcats 14U. He played one season with the Hitmen in 2016-17, recording six points (3G-3A) in 34 games. He returned home to Wenatchee where he played in the BCHL during the 2017-18 season. He was selected in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft in the eleventh-round by the Americans after his impressive season saw him score 11 points (4G-7A) in 18 games. He added three points in the playoffs helping his team win the BCHL Championship.

Dorsey also competed in the RBC Cup and the Doyle Cup where he performed extremely well. He scored once and added two assists for three points in five games at the RBC Cup and scored twice more at the Doyle cup, adding two assists for four points in five games.

The 19-year-old will look to make an impact in his return to the WHL, this time wearing the blue and red of Tri-City.
