#WHLChampionship – Three Stars: May 4, 2018


An action-packed Game One of the 2018 Rogers Western Hockey League Championship Series sparked a strong debate for Friday’s WHL Three Stars of the Night.

Leading the way ultimately was Carter Hart (Philadelphia Flyers), who stopped 34 of 35 shots in the 2-1 victory for the visiting Everett Silvertips. The win was the 24th of Hart’s WHL Playoffs career and gave him a 2.36 goals-against-average, .925 save-percentage in the 2018 WHL Playoffs.

Earning second star honours for the evening was Swift Current Broncos forward Aleksi Heponiemi (Florida Panthers) who scored the Broncos’ lone goal of the game. The goals was his fourth of the 2018 WHL Playoffs, giving him 25 points (4G-21A) in 21 games.

Rounding out the WHL Three Stars Friday was 2018 NHL Draft prospect Connor Dewar, who scored the game-winning goal in the third period to break open the 1-1 deadlock. The 18-year-old forward has had a excellent 2018 WHL Playoffs, with 22 points (10G-12A) in 17 games. The goal was his first career game-winning goal in his WHL Playoffs.
