2016 WHL Playoffs on Shaw: WHL Eastern Conference Championship Schedule

CALGARY, AB – The Western Hockey League announced today that WHL on SHAW’s coverage of the 2016 WHL Playoffs will continue with the WHL Eastern Conference Championship between the Brandon Wheat Kings and the Red Deer Rebels across its Western Canadian network. All games will be available to viewers across Western Canada on Shaw TV and Shaw HD channel 304.

The surging Wheat Kings are bolstered by the likes of Philadelphia Flyers first-rounder Ivan Provorov and Nolan Patrick, a projected top pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. Brandon dispatched of the Moose Jaw Warriors in Round 2 in five games while Red Deer needed seven games to trump the Regina Pats. The Rebels will lean on Team Canada star and Carolina Hurricanes prospect Haydn Fleury in addition to a strong group of forwards that includes Jake DeBrusk (Boston Bruins), Adam Helewka (San Jose Sharks) and team captain Luke Philp.

The two sides meet in the WHL Playoffs for the first time since 2003, another WHL Eastern Conference Championship tilt, when Red Deer took the series 4-1 to advance.

During the series, SHAW’s WHL Central will continue to provide highlights, exclusive features and news from across the WHL during the broadcasts hosted by Andy Neal.
