2016 WHL on Shaw regular season broadcast schedule announced

Calgary, AB – The Western Hockey League (WHL) and Shaw TV announced today that the network will once again broadcast 36 regular season games across its Western Canadian network during the 2016-17 WHL season. 

The 2016 WHL on Shaw schedule will feature key WHL rivalries airing live throughout the regular season and will be available to viewers across Western Canada. Shaw TV is entering its 13th season as the official regional cable broadcaster of the WHL and will be offering all games to viewers in high definition.

The broadcast schedule will begin Friday, September 23rd when the Vancouver Giants honour Gordie Howe and host the Everett Silvertips. The game will be broadcasted live, and commence with a preview show beginning at 7:00 pm PDT.

The WHL on Shaw will continue its coverage of opening weekend in Saskatoon, SK on Sunday, September 25th as the Blades celebrate ‘Thank You, Mr. Hockey Day’ and play host to the Swift Current Broncos.

Shaw TV will broadcast 19 additional regular season games in the New Year, with a schedule to be announced in December. Shaw TV will also broadcast a series in each of the four rounds of the WHL Playoffs, with a first round schedule to be announced at the end of the regular season.
